Andy Warhol (1928–1987) was a groundbreaking American artist and leading figure of the Pop Art movement, known for his innovative blending of high art and popular culture. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Warhol studied commercial art at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) before moving to New York City, where he gained fame as a commercial illustrator. He became renowned for his exploration of consumerism, celebrity, and mass production, transforming everyday objects and icons into provocative works of art.

Warhol’s most iconic creations include his silk-screened portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and other celebrities, as well as his Campbell’s Soup Cans and Brillo Boxes. His studio, “The Factory,” became a hub for avant-garde art, music, and film, attracting a diverse and eclectic circle of collaborators. Warhol’s experimental approach extended to filmmaking and publishing, challenging traditional boundaries of artistic expression.

His work continues to provoke thought and inspire debates about originality, fame, and the commodification of art. Warhol’s legacy endures as one of the 20th century’s most influential and enigmatic cultural figures, reshaping the way art interacts with society and media.
